About Santa Ana Gas Line

Santa Ana Gas Line is a gas piping company working in Santa Ana, California and the surrounding Orange County cities. We have spent more than 20 years on one kind of work — installing, repairing, replacing and testing fuel gas piping — in a city whose housing stock makes that work particular.

Most of the owner-occupied housing here went up between the 1950s and the 1970s. That means original steel piping reaching the end of its service life, systems carrying appliances they were never sized for, and a lot of buried yard line that nobody has looked at since it went in. Twenty years in the same market is worth something on a job like that, because the failures repeat and we have seen where they happen.

Our Approach

We quote in writing before anything is opened up, and the number agreed at the walkthrough is the number on the invoice. Where a job needs a permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection ourselves rather than handing you a form and a phone number. Nothing is subcontracted — the people who quote the work are the people who run the pipe, which is also why the phone reaches somebody who worked on your system when you call about it two years later.

Every line we install or repair is pressure tested before it is closed up, and you keep the written result whether or not an inspector asked for it. Before we cover a buried run we photograph the route and the depth and hand those over, so the next trade on your property is not guessing. Where we trench, the ground is backfilled and compacted in layers and the hardscape, turf and planting go back the way we found them.

Two things we do that are specific to how gas works in this area. We locate existing lines before any excavation, including the customer-owned runs an 811 ticket does not cover, because the gas company marks only as far as the meter and the pipe most likely to be struck is the one nobody marked. And when a meter has been shut off or tagged, we arrange the utility’s re-light appointment once the work passes and check every appliance back into service ourselves, rather than leaving a household to chase two organizations.
